The service buildings, grouped round a courtyard, date partly from the Middle Ages. On the west side are the former stables, now the visitors’ centre. The building opposite, on the east side, was used as the coach and carriage house. In around 1820, the building on the north side of the courtyard housed the kitchen and service apartments for the gardeners and domestic personnel. Today it contains gardening equipment. The Lion Fountain on the south side of the courtyard bearing the initial E was built for Duke Ernst I (1784-1844).
